We were glad to see everyone who came to discuss various issues that affect Asian-Americans. We hope that everyone learned something new while tasting delicious dishes from Taiwan! In Food For Thought, we prepared a Chinese style burrito with boy choy, pork, fried tofu, powdered peanut, and sprouts! Hope you guys enjoyed it! More pictures are in the photo gallery! Thanks to BAASA for providing all the amazing pictures :)
Do you remember seeing this colorful sign at Rabb Steps? :) This year, our goal of making the BIGGEST Brandeis TSA Nightmarket has come true! TSA collaborated with 7 other clubs - BBSO, BIEI, BC3, BAASA, SEAC, BKSA, and JSA to host 12 fun games and 25 unique cultural dishes to more than 700 attendees! Last year, it was a success to host TSA Nightmarket at the Intercultural Center, but, this year,TSA had meticulously chosen to host Nightmarket on Fellows Garden to create a vibrant setting for attendees to experience the dynamic street culture of Taiwan. While TSA prepared fried rice, fried noodles, scallion pancakes, stir fried cabbage, tang hulu, boba tea, winter melon tea, thin noodle soup with oysters, salt & pepper chicken, shaved ice, our fantastic collaborators also made a wide range of dishes. You could find samosa (SASA), ants on a log and yogurt fruit parfait (BBSO), crab rangoon (BAASA), boong uh bbang (BKSA), platanos (BIEI), sobameshi and green tea ice cream (JSA), curry fish ball and thai tea (SEAC), tea egg and tang yuan (BC3), patties (BIEI), and mango lassi (SASA). Attendees got a free ticket at the entrance in order to taste 9 amazing dishes. If it's not enough, attendees could earn extra tickets from playing in order to get more delicious food. Click HERE to check out the full photo gallery. Without the helps from all the clubs, TSA Nightmarket would never be able to create such an experience with different cultures. TSA also wants to extend our appreciation to all the amazing volunteers this year: Ingrid Wong, Kaitlin Wang, Alexis Perry, Ernest Ling, Mary Kathryn, Myung Joo Khang, Alvin Liu, and James Lee.
A big thank you for everyone who came to help out, have fun, and make Nightmarket a huge success! It is our pleasure to create Nightmarket for everyone to experience the dynamic street culture of Taiwan! We look forward to seeing you all next year <3 Thank you for coming to our 1st General Meeting at the ICC lounge. We're gladly to serve you a variety of teas with boba! If you have not tasted THE MOST WONDERFUL THING IN THE WORLD, Boba (aka Bubble Tea or pearl milk tea) are chewy tapioca balls that go with tea based drinks. We also served Winter Melon Tea for those who aren't a big fan of Boba! Glad to see you all there :) Welcome to another year of Taiwanese Student Association! We joined Activity Fair on September 1st on te Great Lawn! The weather was really hot but SO AS OUR PASSION <3 Looking forward to seeing you all in our events this year! Events to look forward to: Boba Night, Lantern Festival, Night Market, Dumpling Night, Game Night with Tang Yuan and Taiwanese Breakfast Night, and more! SO STAY TUNED!
What a year! TSA hosted its final event of the semester, a DIY tofu pudding study break a.k.a. "Pudding" Your Mind at Ease! (get it? pudding? hehehe) We served tofu pudding with sweet syrup along with a variety of delicious toppings like boba, grass jelly, sliced peach preserves, and red bean paste. We also welcomed the much-anticipated arrival of our ~gorgeous~ new sweatshirts. YAY We celebrated our old eboard. 'Cause we're awesome. ...and NEW eboard! Welcome, TSA eboard 2014-2015! :) Last but definitely not least: we celebrated our graduating seniors with a short-but-sweet slideshow. Shout-out to Emily Lai, Aaron Yang, Anita Kao, Charlene Liao, Thai Le! Thanks for all you have done! Congratulations, and we wish you the best with your future endeavors :)
This year, TSA debuted a new event, Improv Night! Inspired by Who's Line Is It Anyway? and Improv-a-ganza, Improv Night combined improv games with Taiwanese stimuli to get hilarious results. We also served a yummy dinner of dumplings and boba during intermission. Teams Asian Union, Quiz Up, and Cock-Asian competed, and our 3 guest judges, MFA actors Brandon Green & Sam Gillam and Trisk president Molly Gimbel, (using an intricate, mysterious scoring method involving puppies/stars/toilet paper/etc.) ultimately declared Cock-Asians the champions. TSA hosted its first Boba NIght event, where we let YOU be the boba chefs! Participants began with a cup of home-cooked boba and then were able to customize their boba drink using everything from traditional teas to juices, almond powder, coffee, hot cocoa, and more.
Welcome back, and welcome, Midyears! The first general meeting of Spring semester was a sugar-filled event - TSA challenged teams to build the Taipei 101 out of graham crackers, pretzels, frosting, and candy. After we introduced our 2013-14 e-board, our competitors learned about the Taipei 101 and then put their creativity to the test! And, of course, there was warm boba tea for everyone :) There were 8 fabulous teams, but there could only be a few winners, which our judges determined by tower height, creativity, among other criteria. Check out our other teams and their magnificent creations~ Afterward, we had some more fun... And finally, we celebrated our e-board member Kaitlin's birthday. Happy birthday, Kaitlin!
This year's theme was "Mahjong Royale". The location was a dimly-lit, swanky Swig Lounge where players (from beginners to Mahjong masters) were welcome to learn and play Mahjong.
Players could order red, green, and wintermelon tea off of elegant menus. In addition to drinks, there was a snack bar offering spicy peanuts, assorted asian crackers, and candy for everyone to munch on as they tossed, peng-ed, and tzi-ed their way through several rounds of Mahjong. |
